Workshop Prerequisites

Designed to expand you horizons!

The courses offered in the Expand Your Horizons program are a combination of lecture, lab and clinical applications. You must be able to demonstrate competency in all levels of expanded functions and should have pre–knowledge in the following subject areas:

  • basic dental hygiene skills
  • pharmacology, head and neck anatomy
  • background in dental anatomy and dental materials

Pre–study course assignments and materials for the Local Anesthesia & Restorative Dentistry classes will be distributed via an online classroom. Students will need to provide e–mail addresses when registering. Textbooks will be shipped through UPS.

In addition to the knowledge requirements, you must provide proof of the following by February 15, 2008:

  • malpractice insurance (available through Marsh Affinity Group – (800) 621–3008)
  • current First Aid & CPR certification
  • dental hygiene licensure in Washington or another state or proof of dental hygiene licensure pending status
  • Hepatitis B vaccination with proof of immunity current with one year or titer test
  • TB antigen test current within one year
  • notarized certificate from an ADA accredited dental hygiene program – or Pierce College instructor permission

Note: Alaskan applicants need to take the clinical WREB exam. It is recommended that they enroll in the Restorative Dentistry course.
