Browser Issues When Using Blackboard
If you use Comcast as your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and experience problems accessing Blackboard, follow the steps in #1:
If you have issues with the 'text box' not displaying, follow the steps in #2 or #3:
- If Comcast is your ISP: In Internet Explorer, navigate to the Blackboard webpage, then in the Browser toolbar, go to ‘Tools/Internet Options/ Security tab/ Trusted Sites and then ‘add’ the Blackboard Web site address (URL) as a ‘trusted site’.
- Text Box doesn’t appear in Discussion Boards, etc.: Look for an "Alert!" message bar on the underside of the browser toolbar that says ‘This website wants to run Active X’, click on the message bar, select ‘Run Active X’ and verify the page finishes loading as expected.
- Text Box doesn’t appear in Discussion Boards, etc.: If you are on a Vista PC, go to the Blackboard 'Tools' menu (also available in green box on the left after logging in) ‘Personal Information’ and set the ‘Visual Textbox Editor’ to ‘not available’ (simple instructions), or download and use ‘Firefox’ as your browser for Blackboard.
One of these three ‘fixes' should solve the problem!
