The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) announced today the award of 103 new scholarships and fellowships to high-performing undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that are critical to the DHS mission. The DHS Scholars and Fellows Program is designed to nurture the next generation of public-service oriented scientists and engineers, while encouraging their long-term commitment to homeland security issues.

The Department of Homeland Security announced more than 100 scholarships to create the next generation of public-service scientists and engineers. The grants were announced Monday by DHS’s Science and Technology Directorate and are being given to 103 undergraduate and graduate students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence awarded grants to six U.S. universities to participate in the intelligence community’s Centers for Academic Excellence program.Each university in the program receives first-year grants of $250,000 to $750,000, with four one-year extension options.
