NEMA and Senator Joseph Lieberman on FEMA’s New Five Year Strategic Plan

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, I-Conn., chairman of Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said he is “pleased that FEMA’s five-year strategic plan embraces the reforms Sen. [Susan] Collins [R-Maine] and I urged as part of the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act, such as development of an ‘all-hazards’ approach to preparedness.” But Lieberman warned that “FEMA must also develop performance measures or targets by which to judge its progress. And we must all ensure it has the resources necessary to succeed.”
