Your life at Pierce College

photo: Carsten Spichal at an International Club event

“I made a lot of friends from Asian countries: we met very often to talk about our cultural experiences and prepared typical food together. It amazes me how much I learned about Japan and South Korea without even going there."

Carsten Spichal, exchange student from Germany

Aside from your academic life, you will have many opportunities to become involved in the Pierce community. Your involvement will make your stay more interesting, as you will meet more people and learn more about American life.

Clubs and student activities

Pierce College provides for a variety of student clubs and sponsored activities. The Student Programs office organizes dances, outings, film nights, and other special events. These activities are organized by a student team at each college. See the events calendar for upcoming activities. Popular activities include the Multicultural Leadership Institute, drama, and sports.

International Student Club

Our International Student Club meets twice per month for friendship and fun. We are composed of both domestic students and international students. All students are welcome and encouraged to join.

We take field trips, play games, attend sporting events, have foreign movie nights, and support on-campus learning opportunities to teach people about our many cultures. Every quarter, students host a "culture day" where they share their culture, including games and food, and teach us a bit of their language. We also participate in community service each quarter to help our Pierce and outside communities.

Students are elected as the officers to the club, which they run assisted by advisor Mary Meulblok. Contact Mary to find out more, including upcoming event dates.
