Medical Insurance
Because medical care is expensive in the United States, we require that all international students have health insurance. If you want to use health insurance from your country, please bring proof of coverage, in English. You must have a minimum of $50,000 per illness or injury. You can also purchase insurance when you arrive at Pierce College; the cost is $201.75 per quarter (about 3 months).
Medical care in the U.S. is excellent and widely available. If you become ill or are injured during your stay here in the U.S., your host family or a staff member of the International Office at Pierce College can help you find a doctor.
Only very limited dental insurance is available through Pierce College. If you need dental work, it is best if you have it done in your home country before coming to the U.S., as dental care is expensive in the U.S.
