Making Movies with


iMovie is a simple digital video editing program used with a Macintosh computer. In this tutorial you will learn the basics of importing video from a camera, making titles, creating transitions, importing sound and exporting your movie to videotape.

Even if you are a PC user, hop over to this platform just to make a movie. It is simple, intuitive and fun!


 
  You will need:
  • A digital camcorder connected to a Macintosh computer via Firewire. (see Connecting a Camcorder)
  • Digital footage recorded on your digital camcorder

Getting the Camera Ready
 

1. Plug the firewire cable into the camera (see Connecting a Camcorder).
2. Open up IMovie by double-clicking the icon on the computer screen
3. Turn your camera to VCR

 

The Three Windows

(Main Window)

The main window is used to play and import video into iMovie



(Clip Window)

The clip window displays the video clips that you have captured.


(Timeline Window)

The timeline is where you build your movie by combining elements such as
transitions and titles
