In the Clip Window, click the Transitions button.

Choose a transition (you can see what they look like by clicking "Preview".

Drag the transition in between the clips on your timeline. It should look something like this when you're done:

Do this to all of your clips with which you want to have transitions.

The next step is to add titles either before a clip or superimposed on top of a clip.
