Add an Online Component to Your Class

This document explains how you can bring your learning materials, class discussions, and even tests online. By using Blackboard.com, a free online service, you can transfer your course material to a website without knowing any HTML or other programming languages. The service is very easy to use. It takes less than five minutes to get started, and there's nothing to download or install. Course Web sites will be hosted on Blackboard's servers, where they can be accessed via the Web at anytime.

  You will need:
  • An Internet connection
  • A Web browser (ie: Netscape or Internet Explorer)
  • Course materials (such as your syllabus, etc.) saved to your hard drive or disk.

Open Blackboard.com

Open up your favorite web browser and on the address line type www.blackboard.com, then press the Enter key.

OR

Create a Course

On the left side of the Blackboard website where it says, "Create a Course", type in the name of your course.

  • Use an abbreviation of your course name and follow it with your last name. ie: DDSGN160-your last name

When you are finished, click "Go".
