Creating Simple Web Pages
Want to have a web presence but don't want to learn a bunch of new software or html coding? Well forget it, it's impossible....just kidding. You can actually make web pages using your word processing software. This tutorial will show you some easy steps using Microsoft Word. You can also apply the same logic to WordPerfect if you're using that software instead.

  You will need:
  • Microsoft Word (Versions 95, 98, or 2000)

Make a Web Document
Create a Folder

You will want to create your own folder for all of your web pages because you will be copying that folder and all it's contents to the web. (I'll explain more about that later)

Find where you would like to put your folder on your harddrive or disk then (Windows) right-click, choose New, then New Folder and name it. (Mac) press the Command and N key on your keyboard, name it.

Open up an existing Word document

Open up Microsoft Word, go to File / Open and find a document that you have already created that you would like to turn into a web page.......OR.....just create a new document.

Save it as a Web Page

At your menubar click on File / Save As. Click the little arrow on the "Save as type" box. Choose Web Page from the list. Save it to your new web folder.

Note - If you are using Word Perfect or an older version of Word, it may refer to saving it as HTML or an html document.

Ta Da!!! You have just created a webpage. I told you this was easy!!

Side Note - When you convert to html it may change your formatting a little. This is normal and is usually not a problem for people. However, if you need to have it look exactly the way you orginally created it then you can make a pdf copy of it.

Now lets make a homepage that links to your other pages.
