Each quarter we teach a variety of FREE workshops related to teaching with technology. We will be sending out email notices to everyone in the district about upcoming workshops. Below are the types of workshops we offer.

Powerpoint Tips & Tricks

Learn how to get more out of Powerpoint such as making nonlinear presentations, hyperlinking, and creating special effects, while considering the instructional effectiveness of various techniques.

Hardcopy to Digital: Getting Images Onto the Web

If you have a bunch of pictures - in whatever format - that you'd like to turn into Web-based images, come to this hands-on workshop and learn the basics of scanning and manipulating graphics. Learn some special effects and what formats work best for online uses, as well as how to choose the best visuals for instructional purposes.

Learning Towers and How to Use Them

Learning towers, which have been installed in several of our classrooms on both the Puyallup and Ft. Steilacoom campuses, allow teachers to easily bring technology into their classrooms. A learning tower is positioned in front of the classroom for easy faculty access. It is connected to a video projector and consists of Mac and Windows PC's, DVD Player, CD-ROM, VCR, microphone, and wireless keyboard and mouse.

You will be shown how to use these towers to best present media to your class.

Digital Video Made Simple

If a picture is worth a thousand words then a moving picture must be worth a million.
With the latest technology in the Lava Java, digitizing and editing video is simple and fun. Create video clips to use with your course and output to tape, disk or the web. Use a digital video camera and learn the basics of I-movie software.

Getting Started in Blackboard

Begin adding a web-enhanced element to your classroom by creating a Blackboard site. In this workshop you will create your own account, add announcements, syllabus and instructor information.

Instructor Briefcase

Learn how to post your grades on-line and access your most current updated class roster by using Instructor Briefcase.
