Wiki Wackiness!!

November 16th, 2005

I’ve been thinking about how to create the online resource clearinghouse that people have been asking for. My answer today is a WIKI!! With this wiki, anyone in our group can add content, files etc. We’ll start by using this as a place to upload our finalized Action Plans.

IL Grant Wiki

Laurie and I have recently returned from the Internet Librarian 05 Conference in lovely Monterey (it’s probably one of the nicest conferences I’ve ever attended) which left us chock-full of ideas and things we want to try out. There was a lot of discussion about blogs, wikis, rss and much much more. Do we have any bloggers (or Bloglines users) out there? Anyone want to know about those things?

Workshop Homework!

April 5th, 2005

The major homework for attending the spring workshops is to read “The Phenomenon of Information Literacy” by Christine Bruce. Be warned, this is a BIG file.

Also–

  • Program Track people - bring basic institutional information that you have on hand (i.e. library instruction statistics, instructional org chart, description of library instruction program, budget or $ spent on library program, etc.)
  • Teacher Track people - bring an instructional scenario to work on
  • Most likely, if Teacher and Program Track people come together from the same school, the Teacher track people will join the Program Track for this day’s work.

    Pre-Immersion April Workshops - 9:30am - 4:00pm

    February 18th, 2005

April 14 (Thursday) — Highline Community College
April 22 (Friday) — Spokane Falls Community College
April 29 (Friday) — Edmonds Community College

  • You may attend any of the workshops–it’s all the same content offered at different times and places. But if you are in the Program Track, please attend with your college-mates.
  • If your school has Program Track participants, feel free to bring other librarians from your college that aren’t necessarily going to Immersion.
  • These workshops will be time to work on writing your case studies that you bring to Immersion. We’ll also be diving into some of the readings that participants complete before attending Immersion. Information will follow detailing what information you need to bring for writing the case studies and the readings to be read.
  • In March I’ll ask people to let me know which workshop they are attending so we can coordinate parking passes and let our locations know what size groups are showing up.
