The following are initial troubleshooting steps for those who may have difficulties accessing their Blackboard CE course. Please work your way through the checklist to very your system is correctly configured for Blackboard CE.
- Check URL address (to include correct spelling)
http://pierce.blackboard.com
- The IP address of the Blackboard CE server is 209.133.92.134, for those who wish to connect directly. Firewalls should not be a factor in accessing the server.
- Prior to trying any of the below, disable any firewall, pop-up/spam blocker, privacy, and/or anti-virus program or other "safety" or "security" program running on your system (in lower right hand corner by clock). These have been found to interfere with Blackboard CE's performance.
- Verify your Internet Explorer browser is set up correctly by following the steps listed here.
- If you still are unsuccessful, consider trying Netscape as your Blackboard CE browser.
Students have had a pretty good success rate using Netscape as their browser for Blackboard CE.
- Make sure username is in CAPS along with the last 6 digits of your Pierce College Student ID, not your Social Security Account Number.
Password = yymmdd. Example: if your birthday is April 1st, 1982, then your password will be 820401.
- If log-in defaults to their present log-in (for past courses)
- Go to Tools
- Internet Options
- Delete Cookies and Delete Files
- Clear History
- Restart computer.
- If you are still unable to connect to your class, please try using another computer on a different network, such as a local library, to verify you cannot access the course.
