<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Position Summary:</span></strong></p>
<p>The Maintenance Mechanic 3 performs leadworker level tasks in the operation, maintenance and repair of buildings and on grounds, machinery, and facilities equipment.  Emphasis for the Maintenance Mechanic 3 is on operating, maintaining, and repairing building Heating, Ventilating, and air conditioning systems (HVAC); and perform journey-level and skilled work in a variety of fields including plumbing and electrical.  This position reports to the District Maintenance Manager.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Qualifications:</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>Required Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Completion of a trade school program in HVAC, Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems, electrical, and/or plumbing.</li>
<li>Four (4) years experience in building trade industry at the journey level maintaining and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building mechanical systems.</li>
<li>Experience and skill in HVAC maintenance, repair and diagnostics.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and skill in the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of building control systems.</li>
<li>Knowledge of building plumbing and skill in plumbing maintenance, repair and diagnostics.</li>
<li>Knowledge of building electrical systems and skill in equipment maintenance, repair and diagnostics.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and skill in low voltage maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.</li>
<li>Skill in welding, soldering, and sheet metal fabrication.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently to identify and resolve building system problems with minimum guidance or supervision.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desired Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Six (6) years experience in building trade industry at the journey level maintaining and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building mechanical systems.</li>
<li>HVAC Journeyman.</li>
<li>Low voltage electrical license.</li>
</ul>

<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">HVAC:</span></strong>  Journey level maintenance and repair or boilers, chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, multi-zone units, air handlers, exhaust fans, water and air filters, and refrigeration units.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Building Systems:</span></strong>  Monitor and operate interior and exterior lighting controls, pneumatic and electric thermostats, energy management systems, fire alarm and suppression systems, HVAC controls, and mechanical controls.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Electrical:</span></strong>  Skilled level maintenance and repair of lighting (low voltage, 110, 277 &amp; 480 volt), switches, circuits, receptacles, disconnects, electric drive motors, electrical systems (110, 277 &amp; 480 volt), and magnetic motor starters.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Plumbing:</span></strong>  Skilled level maintenance and repair of domestic water, waste water, water pumps, and mechanical system plumbing.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Lead Staff:</span></strong>  Lead lower level staff.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Emergency Response:</span></strong>  Assist with campus emergency situations; may be required to remain on-site during emergencies and provide communication and support to internal and external first responders.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Training:</span></strong>  Attend College provided training as required.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Miscellaneous:</span></strong>  Perform other duties as assigned.</li>

<p>This is a full-time (40 hours per week) overtime eligible classified position the will be performing work at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom and Pierce College Puyallup. The work hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Occasional travel between campuses and extension sites may occur.</p>
<p>The starting salary is $3,819 per month ($45,828 year) with periodic increments to $4,322 month ($51,864 year).  A higher starting salary, above $3,819 per month, may be authorized and is dependent upon applicable experience/education. </p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">*Other Conditions of Employment:</span></strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Physical Work Environment:</span>  Required to work indoor and outdoor performing continuous physical labor. Exposure to risks such as confined spaces, pressure vessels, high voltage, and working at heights may occur as dictated by the work.  Safety requirements include use of personal protective equipment (PPE), understanding MSDS, and the lock-out-tag-out procedure.</li>

<li>Operate vacuum cleaners (industrial, upright, backpack), electric/propane buffers, burnishing machines, auto scrubbers, restroom low-pressure cleaning machine, carpet cleaners and extractors, pressure washers/surface cleaners, washing machines, dryers and household appliances.</li>
<li>Ability to safely use chemicals, compounds and various solutions relative to the custodial trade that may require the use of PPE.</li>
<li>Ability to perform continual manual labor (bending, stooping, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, holding hands above head, repetitive and vigorous use of appendages).</li>
<li>Ability to independently organize time to accomplish scheduled tasks within a prescribed shift.</li>
<li>Effective communication skills including the ability to read and write in the English language with site lead, supervisor and/or customers, as well as understand and interpret chemical dilution rates and instructions.</li>

<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Deep Cleaning</span></strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">  </span>- High dusting of all surfaces, clean, strip, buff and apply floor finish to a variety of hard-floor surfaces; deep clean (extract) carpet; use and maintain power equipment and tools associated with custodial duties; wash interior and accessible exterior windows; pressure washing of exterior surfaces, concrete, sidewalks, siding, building facades and entries.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Operational Support</span></strong> &#8211; Assist in the setup and takedown of equipment and furniture for events; maintain furniture and equipment configurations appropriate to the spaces.</li>

<p>The Welcome Center Customer Service Specialist will serve as primary contact for the Welcome Center at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom and have extensive interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community constituents and act as part of a cohesive team, working in the daily operations of the Welcome Center.  Responsibilities include providing customer service in person, via email, and over the telephone; providing general programmatic information for enrollment services, financial aid, student development, specialized programs, and other areas of the college; and managing time effectively in order to assess customers&#8217; individual needs and assist them in making the appropriate connections to Pierce College programs, services, and resources.  This position reports to the Director of Student Development &amp; Special Programs.</p>

Steilacoom Welcome Center;  provide information, advise and referrals to meet the unique needs of students, staff, and the community who access the Welcome Center in person, on the phone or via email; work collaboratively with Welcome Center staff to implement and maintain the Welcome Center student intake program; monitor the daily operations of the Welcome Center and ensure the established goals are being met; recommend continuous improvement strategies; interpret and explain college policies and procedures, in respone to customer needs; review informational documents, such as intake forms, assessment reports, and registration forms and independently make decisions about how best to serve students; independently resolve customer problems by identifying the issues, determining procedural steps, working with Welcome Center and college staff; provide operational support to Welcome Center functions, such as, admissions, advising, assessment, Running Start, financial aid, specialized programs, and registration; maintain confidentiality according to college policy and FERPA guidelines.</li>
<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Office Management:</span></strong>  Maintain a welcoming and professional office and waiting area; train and supervise work of work-study students; ensure office equipment such as copier, fax, document imaging and kiosks are operational and report technical problems to IT.</li>

<p><strong><em>In-Training Plan:</em></strong></p>
<p>At the beginning of employment as Data Processor 2 (Information Technology – Data Processor 2), the incumbent will progress through an 18-month formal training plan which will consist of on-the-job training, classroom or field instruction, and completion of specific courses and/or certifications. <p><strong><em>Position Summary:</em></strong></p>
<p>The Information Technology &#8211; Data Processor 2 performs data control functions for the input/output of data from the District Student Management System.  Responsibilities include scheduling routine jobs with predictable/non-predictable variables on the production management system; querying database(s) to extract, compile and summarize data; and maintain continuous review of data and processes for quality assurance.  This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Services/Registrar.</p>

<p><strong>About the Program:</strong> </p>
<p>Pierce College at McNeil Island Corrections Center serves approximately 425 offenders per quarter in a variety of educational programs to include basic skills and vocational training.  Services are provided at the main institution in the Inmate Services Center  and the Industries/Vocational Compound.</p>
<p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide instruction in a lecture and lab setting in the following areas:  drafting fundamentals and blue print reading, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MasterCam.</li>
<li>Instruct students individually or in small groups.</li>
<li>Incorporate technology instruction into curriculum, as appropriate.</li>
<li>Register students, monitor attendance, record progress, assign grades.</li>
<li>Assist with assessment and placement and provide academic advising for students, as needed.</li>
<li>Work closely with corrections staff to ensure student compliance with attendance and offender accountability programming plan.</li>
<li>Implement curriculum, as appropriate.  Assist in ongoing curriculum and program development and revision.</li>
<li>Address multiple learning styles in curriculum and teaching methods.</li>
<li>Coordinate with Correctional Industries staff to customize curriculum to meet job specifications.</li>
<li>Conduct research of educational software and make recommendations on suitability for education programs.</li>
<li>Develop technology and software interface in the CNC field.</li>
<li>Schedule and oversee teaching assistants and tutors.</li>
<li>Serve on committees at MICC institution and main campus.</li>
<li>Coordinate and serve on Technical Design Advisory Committee.</li>
<li>Participate in staff development opportunities.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a willingness to abide by the policies and procedures of Pierce College and the Department of Corrections.</li>
<li>Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.</li>

<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Required:</span>  Associate of Technical Arts in Drafting or Design; two years’ work experience in the drafting or design field; and hold or be able to attain vocational certification. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Preferred:</span>  Knowledgeable in the software application of Inventor and MasterCam; background in Furniture Design; work experience in a correctional facility and have an awareness of re-entry issues relevant to the inmate population.</p>
<p><strong>Terms of Employment:</strong></p>
<p>This position, which is contingent upon funding, is a full-time, permanent status assignment of 220 contracted days or designated contact hour equivalent per year, anticipated to begin <strong>October 19, 2009</strong>.  Location of this position will be at Pierce College’s Education Program at the McNeil Island Correction Center.  Initial salary placement is based on the current full-time faculty salary schedule, and is dependent upon education and experience.  An evening and/or split work schedule may be included in the assignment.</p>

The Early Childhood Classroom Aide works under direct supervision and will perform classroom work following defined work procedures and priorities to meet the needs of children ages 1 to 5 years old enrolled in the Center.  The Early Childhood Classroom Assistant works under general supervision and will provide direct educational instruction and activities to meet the needs of children ages 1 year to 5 years enrolled in the Child Development Center.  Positions report to the Director and/or Manager of the Child Development Center and under the direction of the Lead Teacher, i.e., Early Childhood Education Specialist 3.</p>
<p><strong>Terms of Employment:</strong><br />
Part time, hourly on-call and substitute positions which will not exceed 69 hours per month.  Hours vary and require a flexible work schedule and/or work location.  This position is not eligible for benefits.  Salary is $13.00 &#8211; $15.00 per hour dependent upon qualifications.</p>

<li>College level teaching experience desired.</li>

<p><strong>Core Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<li>Teach course(s) as assigned;</li>
<li>Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology;</li>
<li>Be available to students before and after class; and</li>
<li>Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.</li>
