Driver Safety Program

As of April 1, 2006 all drivers of District-owned, rented or leased vehicles will be required to comply with the District's Driver Safety Program. This includes the successful completion of a two hour training video and test.In addition to the training, drivers will also have to pass a driver's history review and have five years of driving experience.

The driver safety program was created to prepare college personnel and volunteers to operate District owned, rented, and leased vehicles safely and defensively. In addition, State agencies that own, rent, and lease vehicles are required to have driver safety programs under Section 12 of the State Administrative &Accounting Manual. Due to their risk, 15-passenger vans have the highest standards for driver's training and education. Although the training focuses on vans, the defensive driving techniques that are taught are transferable to both passenger cars and trucks.
