Fred Metzger has been a member of the Speech/Theatre faculty at Pierce College since 1976. In 1995 and 1996 he served as Vice-Chairman of Programs for the Northwest Section of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. He wrote and directed the original musical Class in 1993, and Market Place Blues in 2001. Other musicals he has directed include: Will Rogers Follies, Nunsense I and II , A Chorus Line, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. He designed Bus Stop for Tacoma Actors Guild and The Nutcracker for Tacoma Performing Dance. In addition he has designed many shows at Pierce College including Amadeus and I'm Not Rapport. In the summers of 1996 and 1997 he directed the original historical pageant A Place of Firsts which commemorates the birth of the town of Steilacoom, one of Washington states first settlements. A Place of Firsts was sponsored by the Pierce College Foundation and the Washingtion Endowment for the Arts.

Patrick Daugherty is the new professor of speech and theater at Pierce College. He received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theater Performance from University of Tulsa, his Teacher Certification in Speech and Drama from Oklahoma State University, and his Master’s of Arts from Louisiana Tech University’s School of Performing Arts.

His credits span both summer stock and educational theater, as well as television, film, and radio. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous productions, including Louisiana Tech University’s, The Cherry Orchard, featuring Vladlen Davydov of the Moscow Art Theatre. Patrick is the founding director of Tulsa’s 117th Street Players and has written four musicals, one of which received the Kennedy Center’s American College Theater Festival New Musical Award. He is a recipient of N.I.S.O.D. Excellence in Teaching and has attended workshops and externships at the Oklahoma Film Institute, Kennedy Center’s A.C.T.F., Ensemble Studio Theater, and Association for Theater in Higher Education, N.I.S.O.D., and Women’s Project and Productions.
