Title: Advertising of College Programs and Services

It is the policy of Pierce College District Eleven to permit expenditures from general operating funds for paid advertisements in commercial print and broadcast media, in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, 7.60.03 (5) and 7.90.03.† The Office of College Relations, working in cooperation with major units and departments throughout the college district, will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and administering all programs of paid advertising and no operating funds shall be expended for paid advertisements of college programs and services without prior approval of the director or his/her designee.

Title: College Publications

For purposes of this policy, college publications are defined as catalogs, bulletins, newsletters, brochures, flyers, handbooks, posters, stationery, audiovisual materials, the web page, and other types of published materials published in the name of Pierce College and intended for public distribution, with the exception of official forms and materials produced for classroom or student use.† All college publications for off-campus distribution, including all bulk mail pieces, must be approved by the Office of College Relations.

Title: Use of the Official College Logo

The Pierce College logo consists of the nomenclature (Pierce College in the collegeís specialized type) and the symbol (stylized mountain), in the design and format adopted by the Board of Trustees in May 1986.† The logo may be used only as prescribed by the graphic identity guidelines established by College Relations.† Any items displaying a logo inconsistent with the guidelines may be removed from public display or circulation at the request of the Director of College Relations.

Title: News Media Contact

It is the policy of Pierce College District Eleven that when one is speaking on behalf of the institution all official contact with news media representatives shall be initiated and/or approved by the Director of College Relations, the appropriate college President or the Presidentís designee.† The Chancellor and/or designee will serve as official spokesperson in all matters pertaining to media contact.
