Raiders Hoopsters earn post season awards

March 5, 2008 @ 6:27 pm

March 4, 2008
Despite missing 7 games in mid-season, sophomore point guard Scott Halasz has been named to the Western Division Mens Basketball All-Stars Second Team. Halasz led the Raiders in scoring average at 15 points per game, shooting 48 percent from the field, and finishing second in assists and third in steals on the team. The loss of Halasz during the heart of the Raiders league schedule, due to a broken hand, was one of the key reasons the Raiders missed out on a return trip to the NWAACC Tournament. Halasz finishes his two years with the Raiders with a ten point per game scoring average. Halasz will participate in the NWAACC Sophomore All-Star game on March 9, at Bellevue Community College.
Freshman post Courtnie Martin was named to the Western Division Womens Basketball All-Stars as an Honorable Mention selection. Martin had an outstanding first year with the Raiders, finishing as the teams leading scorer, averaging 16.4 points per game, and second leading rebounder, grabbing 7.6 boards per contest.
