Raiders men struggle on the road; Women's team drops home game
$thisCategory = "Winter Sports"; ?>Coach Estis and the Raiders dropped to 2-3 after 23 first-half turnovers killed any chance for a road win at Whatcom College in Bellingham on Wednesday night (Nov. 28). The inexperienced Raiders finished the game with 30 total turnovers. The Raiders lost 92-75. Pierce was down 14 -13 with 7:04 to play in the first half. The team had cut their deficit to nine points late, but consecutive three-point attempts missed by Demetrius Crosby (17points) and Tyler Zornes (15 points) killed the rally. The Raiders continue on their marathon road trip, heading to play Chemeteka College in Salem, Ore., at 6 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1).
The women's basketball team had turnover problems of their own. The Raiders lost at home to Bellevue College, 53-43. The Raiders combined to have 40 turnovers, and only scored 15 first-half points. The low-scoring affair dropped the Raiders to 1-3 overall. Erica Lastimado led the Raiders with 13 points. Next up for Pierce is a road trip to Clackamas College in Oregon City, Ore., at 4 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1).
Neither team returns home (Lakewood Community Center) until the doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. Dec. 19. Both teams will play Portland College.

Women Raiders look to regroup back at home
$thisCategory = "Women's Basketball"; ?>The Women Raiders are now 1-2 after a tough loss, 88-31, at Chemetka College dropping their road record to 0-2. The Raiders, shorthanded with only 5 players due to illness and injury, were over matched from the start. The trip to Salem, Ore., was not a good one. The women play Bellevue College at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 28) at the Lakewood Community Center.
Coach Quarles' squad overcame tremendous adversity to win at home versus Peninsula College 73 – 71, where CeeCe Trent hit two free throws at :02 to seal the victory last Tuesday night after Pierce lost to Everett College in their opener.
CeeCe Trent (9.3 ppg) and Paula Pritchard (9.3 ppg) lead the Raiders in scoring.

Three games in three days too much for inexperienced Pierce team
$thisCategory = "Men's Basketball"; ?>The Raider men's basketball team is now 2 – 2 after a tough stretch of three games in three days. Despite a valiant 22-point run (9 for 15 shooting and 6 rebounds) by Demetrius Crosby, the Raider lost a tough match in the final day of the Red Devil Thanksgiving Tournament at Everett.

Pierce, now 2 – 2, continues an 11-game road trip with the next stop a 6 p.m. game Nov. 28 at Whatcom College (Bellingham) and then to Chemeteka College (Salem, Ore.) at 6 p.m. Dec. 1.
