Raiders Split Doubleheader

April 28, 2002 @ 10:26 pm

After the rain washed out Saturday's doubleheader vs Centralia (rescheduled for April 29), Pierce took to the road for a doubleheader vs Green River College in Auburn. The Raiders played an exciting pair of NWAACC games winning the second one 4-3 in 10 innings.

The win was special considering Pierce lost the opener by the same score in 10 innings. The Raiders, hoping April showers, bring May flowers as the strech run continues. If you can not catch the Centralia game at Peterson Field on Monday, April 29, then join the Raiders for a cross town rivalry vs TCC this weekend, May 4th (Peterson Field, 1:00pm) & 5th (TCC, 1:00pm).

Pierce is now 10-15, 4-12 in conference.

Rain Washes Away 3 of 4 Weekend Games; Lose 3-0 to Tacoma

April 15, 2002 @ 2:08 pm

A rain filled weekend washed away a home double header with Gray's Harbor College and one of the games vs TCC. The other TCC game will be made up on Tuesday at 3:30pm at TCC.

Paul Richardson continued to improve his pitching performance this season with another outstanding effort against TCC on Saturday. Richardson kept the Raiders in the game with a combination of well located fastballs and off-speed pitches. Unfortunately, the Raider offense was unable to provide Richardson with a run despite having plenty of opportunities to deliver. Pierce lost 3-0.

After the game Coach Brett Muche stated, "This team is coming together and developing strong character. I am proud of their comment and every day advancements within the game. They know if they produce and play the game like they can, then winning will take care of itself".

The next scheduled is against Lower Columbia this weekend. For more information on make-up dates, call raider Athletics (253) 964-6614.
