Raider Soccer plays Peninsula to tie

October 1, 2003 @ 9:47 pm

Coach Mike Christianson had hoped for a better start to his first year at the helm of the Men's Soccer program. Unfortunately, the Raiders began the year with seven consecutive losses before finally playing the Peninsula Pirates to a 4-4 tie on September 27.

Pierce fought back from an early 2-0 deficit, with goals by Ian O'Neill and Mark Robertson, to trail 3-2 at halftime. The Raiders tied the game on a goal by Matt Hagan to start the second half and pulled ahead on Mark Robertson's second goal of the afternoon. The Pirates came back to tie the game at the 68th minute, but neither team could find the net for the win.

The tie runs the Raider's record to 0-7-1 entering the match at Shoreline on October 2. Pierce returns home this Saturday when they host Shoreline at 1 p.m. at Fort Steilacoom Park.
