Luke Helling-Christy - Men's Head Coach

Coach Helling-Christy is coaching both the Men’s and Women’s soccer teams at Pierce College. He is entering his second year of running both teams for the Raiders. Coach Helling-Christy teaches at Bonney Lake H.S.. Before joining Pierce College, he coached at Bonney Lake H.S. Helling-Christy’s boys team won the Washington 3A State championship at Bonney Lake H.S., and his girls team made it to the State quarterfinals in Fall 2012. Under Helling-Christy’s leadership, the Bonney Lake girls have won two SPSL league titles and his boys teams have brought home three SPSL league crowns. His 2010 girl’s squad played in the State title game. Helling-Christy has been named SPSL Coach of the Year four times.

Helling-Christy was raised in Minnesota, and has been living in the Bonney Lake area for the past ten years. Helling-Christy earned his Bachelor’s degree and teaching credentials from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he played soccer for 4 years; he was twice named WIAC 1st Team All-Conference (1999 and 2000), and was selected the conference’s Most Valuable Defender in 2000. He also served as team captain his senior season.

Michaela Jacobs - Assistant Coach

Samantha Messina - Assistant Coach
First year as an assistant college coach after four-year collegiate play at Fairleigh Dickinson University. During her soccer career she played for multiple club teams, including Jersey United and PDA. She has done trials in England, as well as LA with professional teams. As a four-year starter, playing in almost every single game, Samantha was Freedom Conference Player of the Week, and had a record senior year landing her in the record book for most assists. Samantha has her F license and also coaches for Seattle United, as well as wrapping up 2016 coaching for Auburn Riverside High School. She brings to the Raiders a broad-spectrum knowledge of the game and a passion for the sport. She is looking forward to supporting Coach Luke this season in taking the team to the playoffs. Samantha graduated with a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Teaching. Starting this September will be working in an elementary school K-2 grades and is a new Puyallup resident. She enjoys playing soccer in her free time and is excited to kick this season off with a win!
