Certificates

Certificates enable students to earn work related credentials in their field of interest and it can be applied to the two year Associate in Business professional/technical degree. The Associate in Business professional/technical program will further broaden and develop skills needed to advance in their chosen field.

Business Certificate

This certificate is designed to provide a broad background in practical business skills. Its variety and flexibility meet the needs of students preparing for business careers and those already working in the business world who seek to improve their skills.

Customer Service Certificate

Learning customer service skills is vital to success in today's business environment. Customer service is the cornerstone of marketing: treat your customers well and they will come back.

Entrepreneurship Certificate

The program provides a broad curriculum to provide students with tools needed to succeed as small business owners.

Fashion Merchandising Certificate

Exposes students to fashion design and textiles, as well as to creative sales, retailing, and merchandising techniques.

Human Resource Management Certificate

Learn effective practices related to employee recruiting and hiring, training and development, compensation and benefits, and employee and labor relations.

Marketing Certificate

Employers continually seek new people with the right combination of imagination, experience and education. The Marketing program at Pierce College offers training and experience in sales, leadership/supervision, visual promotion, retailing and international business.

Retail Management Certificate

As the service sector continues to grow, so do the career opportunities in retailing. By developing knowledge and skills in visual promotion, retailing concepts, merchandising techniques, selling skills, and small business strategies, students will have the opportunity to stand out from the crowd in the retailing arena.

Real Estate Sales/Brokerage Certificate

Prepares students to work in the real estate sales industry while meeting Department of Licensing pre-licensing and renewal education requirements.

Real Estate Appraisal Certificate

Prepares students to work in the real estate appraisal field while meeting Department of Licensing pre-licensing educational requirements for entry and career progression.

Sales Certificate

Develop skill sets in prospecting, qualifying, presenting, overcoming objections, and closing the sale. Students will gain knowledge about aspects of marketing, visual promotion, and small business planning.

Supervision & Management Certificate

This certificate provides knowledge and develops skills in leading and managing others. Human relations and the human resource aspect of business is emphasized and the ability to work effectively with others is developed.

Related Instruction Outcomes

  • Communication: Graduates identify, analyze, and evaluate rhetorical strategies in one’s own and other’s writing in order to communicate effectively.
  • Computation: Graduates utilize mathematical, symbolic, logical, graphical, geometric, or statistical analysis for the interpretation and solution of problems in the natural world and human society.
  • Human Relations: Graduates will be able to respond by examining the relationship between self, community, and environments, evaluating potential impacts and consequences of actions, and making choices and contributions based on that examination and evaluation.
