What we do
The Facilities and Operations Department seeks to ensure that the College's facilities provide an accessible, safe, healthful and comfortable learning and working environment for our diverse community. Planning relies heavily on a developed facilities master plan. This ensures a programmatic basis for planning and ensures adherence to the stated mission, values and goals of the institution.
The District Facilities and Operations Department provides maintenance, grounds keeping and custodial services support to the Pierce College District in addition to administering all District capital improvement projects. The department has 41 permanent employee positions and averages approximately 12 temporary hourly employees. The department maintains 8 major capital buildings and 6 other smaller structures. The department is also responsible for maintaining and/or managing approximately 250 acres of land. The department's scope of work includes ensuring the structural integrity of all capital assets, maintaining mechanical, electrical and life safety systems, managing grounds care and providing full custodial support services. Additionally, the department manages all capital improvements to include new construction, renovations, repairs and minor improvements.
