The Bookstores at Fort Steilacoom and at Puyallup have a large selection of calculators, study aids, imprinted clothing, sundries, gift items, best selling books and cards for all occasions. Owned and operated by Pierce College, the Bookstores carries all required textbooks and a full line of school supplies for your class needs.

A mini-bookstore serves students at McChord Air Force Base.

The bookstore offers extended hours during peak times and shortened hours during class breaks. Contact the bookstore for detailed hours.

Bookstore return policy

Make your return within the time guidelines.

We gladly offer refunds and exchanges on textbooks bought and returned within the first three weeks of the current term. The refund period for merchandise other than textbooks is seven days from the date of purchase. If you purchased the wrong item or dropped a course and no longer need a textbook, we want to give you a refund.

Bring your receipt.

When requesting a refund, please bring your receipt. This helps verify when the purchase was made and that the merchandise is yours to return.

We do this for your protection. Your receipt is valuable: keep it in a safe place.

Return your merchandise in original purchased condition.

If the merchandise was purchased in any kind of packaging, that packaging must be complete and undamaged.

New books must be free of writing and highlighting; a book with the owner's name is considered used. We will gladly refund at the used value. Used books are simply returned (with receipt) in the same condition as when they were purchased. Books sold as a package containing a tape or disc(s) must include all items when returned.

Clothing must be unworn and have all tags attached.

Return any defective merchandise immediately.

If at any time you buy a defective product, bring it with your receipt for a full exchange. We want to provide you with only top quality merchandise.

How do we give your money back?

  • Cash or check: we will refund you immediately at the cash register when funds are available. If funds are not available, we will mail you a refund check.
  • MasterCard or Visa: we will credit your account the amount of the refund.
  • School or government agency funds: we will credit your account.

Used book buy back

During final exam week each quarter, a representative from a book wholesaler purchases title for Pierce as well as the Used Book Company. The prices paid back to students are based on the following criteria:

  1. 50% of purchase price: books needed at either college for the following term. Quantities purchased are limited to the instructor's projection of quantity needed.
  2. Market value: wholesale distributors will buy books in current editions which are not being used at Pierce or for which we have not received an order. The representative will pay the going price, which is determined by the demand for the title at other bookstores nationally.
  3. No value: books in poor condition and old editions (unless used for a Pierce class) have no resale value and will not be bought back. High school completion books will not be bought back either.

Also, workbooks must be clean and without answers, unless the instructor requests they not be included in our buyback. Textbooks containing discs will not be bought back unless the instructor negates the value of them in their course curriculum.
