take a "staycation" this Summer

Most of our staff are staying closer to home this summer as we are finding ourselves a little short on funds for those fancy European vacations we have taken in the past. As you may have heard, higher education is feeling the pinch from recent State budget cuts. While our staff are learning to do more with less staff due to a hiring freeze, we are working hard to keep our programming at the same level and summer prices down.

focus on travel - 2010

Start putting money in your piggy bank as Continuing Education is planning trips to Turkey and Thailand in 2010. Our travel program is developed and led by our own in-house travel guru, Aysin Clay. These are not cattle-call tours, but customized small groups of 15-20 with unique locations, great food and special touches planned by someone who has travelled extensively outside the US. who's on the summer cover

Each year we search for a new theme for our Continuing Education Class Schedule. This year's theme "Discover" ends with our Summer Bulletin featuring Dr. Paul Gerhardt in Shakespearean attire. Paul is a full-time associate professor and program coordinator in the Pierce College business department at Fort Steilacoom. Dr. Gerhardt is also an instructor for the customized training and Business & Industry program through Continuing Education. He loves to teach: “My teaching philosophy is to help students discover their strengths and emerge seeing the world through new eyes to better utilize their strengths and gifts, ” he says.
