Project Management Certificate Program

Our In-depth Project Management training is designed to help you apply what you learn in the classroom to situations in the real world!
Project Management Certificate This 72 hour, non-credit certificate program covers the basic project management concepts used by large and small businesses to deliver quality results and control costs. You’ll apply what you learn to realistic situations in the classroom, expand on practical skills and finish with techniques that make sense in the real world. The full certificate starts Fall quarter and consists of two twelve-week classes. The program can be completed in two quarters. Success in the Project Management certificate program requires good writing, communication and critical thinking skills. You must have access to a computer, have an email account and be comfortable using the internet. Proficiency with current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also required. Students must purchase three required textbooks; A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide) 4th edition; Introduction to Project Management, Kathy Schwalbe, 3rd edition OR Revised Introduction to Project Management, 3rd Edition; Step by Step Microsoft Project 2007 by Carl Chatfield, PMP and Timothy Johnson, MCP. books will be used for both courses.
INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING
Whether you look at project management as an opportunity for career advancement or a way to more effectively complete projects, Introduction to Project Management and Planning provides the foundation by covering the framework, terminology and concepts for project management. The course will cover how a project gets initiated and best practice techniques that make sense in the real world of business and industry. The course will provide the knowledge and techniques to build a project plan, including defining your project scope, schedule, cost, quality and risks; developing a work break down structure (wbs), sequence work activities, estimates and developing a schedule. Exercises and group activities are used throughout the program so you can apply your new skills in project initiation and planning. 12 weeks.
