Pierce College Business & Industry Training
Taking care of business!
The Job Skills Programs and Customized Training Programs - grants to help Washington businesses grow!
Job Skill Program (JSP)
Pierce College can apply for training funds on behalf of eligible companies through the Job Skills Program (JSP).
The process is based on competitive application and JSP grant funds are available beginning July 1st of each year until all funds are allocated. Companies that are awarded a grant must spend out all funds by June 30th of the following year.
JSP supports three types of training projects. Each is a tool to enhance the competitiveness of Washington’s economy and increase employment opportunities.
-
New employee training projects
-
Retraining projects
-
Upgrade training projects
Pierce College has a proven track record of providing application assistance, curriculum development, selection and oversight of trainers, training evaluation and on-going project management when working with companies involved with JSP grants.

What are our clients saying about us?
“We have continually increased revenues. Lean manufacturing [training] has improved our competitiveness and improved productivity, improved efficiency, reduced waste, and reduced inventory. There are a lot of small basic manufacturing companies who employ unskilled labor, such as us, and it’s extremely important to be able to support the education of those folks to be able to move up… and for us to stay competitive.”

"The impact on the Auburn plant has been tremendous with helping management and supervision work more closely and problem solve together. The meetings with our Pierce Trainer have made a difference in how the managers/supervisors work together, communicate and interact not only with each other, but with the employees that work for them."
