Local Anesthesia

This course is designed to expand your basic dental hygiene knowledge in pain control and provide additional didactic information and clinical experience in administration of local anesthetic agents to clinical competency. The course includes fundamentals of local anesthetic science and administration techniques for clinicians to achieve entry-level clinical proficiency in their day to day practice.

Instructional methods include online pre-study assignments with the onsite lecture and clinical portion occurring over four days (approx. 30 hours). The online pre-study requires no less than 10 hours of independent study. Course evaluation/assessment will be done through written pre-tests and post-tests, lab feedback and proficiencies, and Mock Board testing.

This course provides a Certificate of Completion for forty (40) hours.

Access to course materials will be provided via the online system approximately two weeks before the start of the course.

ALL students must furnish their own appropriate lab coat and safety glasses based on OSHA guidelines for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

PPE – lab coat must be long enough to cover street clothes - knees to neck to wrists. Knit cuffs preferred, closed at neck (not open v-neck).
