Pacific Northwest Dental Hygiene Institute - Local Anesthesia

Local Anesthesia

This course is designed to expand your basic dental hygiene knowledge in pain control and provide additional didactic information and clinical experience in administration of local anesthetic agents to clinical competency.

The fundamentals of local anesthetic science and administration techniques are presented in this course.  This is a starting point for clinicians to achieve clinical proficiency in their day to day practice.  Confidence requires ongoing practice and study, peer discussion of injection successes and failures, and hours of practice.

Course materials and assignments are provided via the Angel online course management system. The onsite lecture and clinical portion is provided over 4 days (approx. 30 hours).

Required pre-study via Angel requires no less than 10 hours of independent study.

Course evaluation/assessment will be done through written pre-tests and post-tests, lab feedback and proficiencies, and Mock Board testing.
