Validation Overview

To maintain your valid application status and/or offer of acceptance or conditional acceptance, please ensure you follow all directions and submit all applicable documentation as listed on the Application Checklist and noted below.

Maintaining a valid application and/or offer of acceptance or conditional acceptance is also the Sole Responsibility of the Applicant. This includes following directions, processes, meeting deadlines, course requirements, submissions, etc.

Postmarks not allowed. Due dates mean the documents must be at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom Admissions by 4:00 PM on the listed Due Date.

After 2/24/2017

Notification of application validation and invitation to attend on-site testing of Space Relations and Writing Samples. Testing will occur on the Pierce College Fort Steilacoom campus in Lakewood, WA

You will need to “Accept” or “Decline” your invite to attend. (No fees associated with the on-site testing.)

Before 3/18/2017

If you “Accept” your invite to the on-site testing, schedule at your convenience to take the Health Science Reasoning Test (HRST). This test can be taken at either the Fort Steilacoom campus or another acceptable location. You may only take this test once per application year. Please contact the testing center to schedule at: 253-964-6521. (Fees may apply if not taken at Pierce College and are the responsibility of the applicant.)

Complete a Criminal History Background check. (Fees apply and are the responsibility of the applicant.)


If you “Accept” your invite to the on-site testing, attend on-site testing of Space Relations and Writing Sample testing. (Reserve from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm for the testing and informational session.)


Submit official (sealed) Transcripts from winter quarter/semester.


If an application submission is validated, students will be invited to complete THREE admissions tests.

All of the tests are required, even if you have completed them before.

BEFORE TESTING DAY: Saturday, March 18, 2017

Schedule and Take Health Science Reasoning Test (HSRT)

Validated applicants must contact the Pierce College Testing Center via phone at 253-964-6521 or via email at to schedule a time to complete this test at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom

  • There is no fee to the student for the HSRT test if taken at any one of the Pierce College testing sites. (Applicants who are unable to take the test at Pierce College must contact the Testing Center to coordinate a proctored test in an appropriate facility. There may be a fee for a proctored test.)
  • The HSRT must be completed no later than Saturday, March 18, 2017.
  • There is no additional testing fee associated with this test.

Complete Criminal History Background Check

The Validation Letter will provide information on how to complete the Criminal History Background Check. Cost is approximately $35.00 and is the responsibility of the applicant. This cost is in addition to all other Application Fees.

TESTING DAY: Saturday, March 18, 2017

The Space Relations and the Writing Sample admission tests will be administered on-site at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood, WA, Saturday, March 18, 2017.

This is the only available testing date and location for consideration for admission in summer 2017. Alternative test dates are not allowed, except as required by law. Applicants are asked to reserve four hours for the tests.

There is no additional testing fee associated with these tests.


The following items INVALIDATE an application (This list is not exhaustive):

  1. Failure to submit a completed Application by noon on January 27, 2017. Past this time and date invalidates the application.
  2. Failure to follow and meet all academic and process criteria as outlined in Dental Hygiene application process.
  3. Failure to correctly submit and meet subsequent due dates for documentation past application due date.
  4. Failure to attain a minimum 2.5 GPA in any single dental hygiene prerequisite course and a cumulative 3.3 GPA in all dental hygiene prerequisite courses.
  5. Failure to pay the application fees.
  6. Plagiarism or false representation in any way.
  7. Previous Pierce College Dental Hygiene students, who earned an academic or code of conduct dismissal, may be invalidated or, their application points may be reduced up to 10% point value at final ranking.


All applicants will be notified of their offer of acceptance (conditional or completed), alternate status, or non-acceptance into the Pierce College Dental Hygiene Program by Pierce College student eMail sent on the second or third Friday in April. See exact date listed under PROGRAM ACCEPTANCE.
