Music Department - Faculty: Evin Lambert
Evin Lambert rejoined Pierce College in 2004; he is currently an instructor of choral music, music theory, music appreciation, class piano and individual voice lessons. He has taught and conducted nationally and internationally, as Director of Choral Activities at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, Director of Choral Activities in the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho, and Director of Choral Activities at Elon University in North Carolina.
A native of the Northwest, he has taught at the University of Puget Sound as director of the Dorian Singers and University Chorale and at Pierce College from 1991-1995, where he received his Associates of Arts. Mr. Lambert holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington, where he is presently completing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree, also in Choral Conducting.
He has studied conducting under Abraham Kaplan, Joan Conlon, Geoffrey Boers and instrumentally with Timothy Salzman and Peter Eros. His studio voice teachers include Ralph Manzo and most significantly Julian Patrick at the University of Washington. He has studied vocal pedagogy extensively with Geoffrey Boers and Richard Nace.
Mr. Lambert has performed as baritone soloist with the Bangkok Symphony and with the Tacoma Symphony Chorale and Orchestra. As a teacher and performer of vocal jazz, he has enjoyed performances with Take Six, Dianne Schuur, Don Lanphere and the opportunity to work with Kim Nazarian and the New York Voices.
Mr. Lambert stays active as an adjudicator and clinician for high school choral festivals and has significant past experience in radio, television and commercial studio singing. He is currently the Conductor-in-Residence of the Orchestral Recital Series held annually at the University of Puget Sound for 70 student pianists by the Tacoma Chapter of the Washington State Music Teacher’s Association.
Recently, Mr. Lambert was Music Director at the International Church of Bangkok and previously Music Director at Little Church on the Prairie in Lakewood, WA and pianist/organist at McChord AFB Chapel.
