Nursing Department - Home

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Age out for required and extra point classes is now 7 years from the date of application.

Each required prerequisite class must be successfully passed with a 3.0 or higher within two attempts of taking the course. These attempts now include all withdrawals in addition to all grades below 3.0. Unsuccessful attempts that are more than 7 years old from the date of application will not be counted.

Although it is not required, we strongly recommend the completion of an NAC (Nursing Assistant Certified) course with an active license – however, NO extra points will be awarded.

Starting in 2014, applicants to our nursing programs (traditional ADN and LPN/Bridge) will be required to take an entrance exam. The Kaplan Entrance Exam will be offered at the Puyallup Campus testing center five (5) days a week from 8 AM to 1 PM – starting Jan 2, 2014. (We are currently checking to see if our other campus locations are also going to be administrating this exam.) Please call the Testing Center at 253-840-8341 or 253-840-8343 for an appointment. The cost will be $25 – payable at the Cashiers Office.

There will NOT be a minimum required score. We will be retrieving your score through our Nursing Kaplan account and it will be added to the other required elements in your application to our program.

The test must be taken within 1 year of the application date and only one (1) repeat is allowed.

If you take the test at another institution, you will need to request an official transcript of your Kaplan test results be sent to:

Pierce College Puyallup
Attn: Stania/Nursing
1601 39th Ave. S.E.
Puyallup, Wa. 98374-2222
Or, you may include it in your application packet.

Copies of the study guide may be obtained through the campus bookstore and there are limited copies in the Library.
