Whether your passions are best fulfilled onstage, backstage, or behind a camera, Pierce College's Speech, Theatre, and Digital Film program can help you discover and expand your artistic visions. Pierce College provides a number of ways students can explore their creativity while gaining valuable, real world skills in traditional theatre and digital media. Classes are available in digital moviemaking, acting for stage and digital film, and film production.
In addition, Pierce College Theatre, using a cast and crew of students and community members, produces several live plays each year. The plays are artistically challenging for both actors and technicians, and are designed to give a broad sampling of skills and experiences. Auditions are open to anyone. Check the Pierce College Theatre program's Web site at www.pierce.ctc.edu/dept/drama for a list of upcoming productions and further details on how to get involved.
Enrollment in Pierce College's Speech, Theatre, and Digital Film programs open throughout the year. Start in the fall, winter, spring, or summer quarters.
There are no prerequisites to enter this program, but students are advised to take a skills assessment test through the Pierce College testing center to ensure appropriate class placement.
The Associate of Arts degree program is two years.
The Pierce College Associate of Arts degree transfers to any public or private four-year college or university. Students intending to transfer to a four-year program are asked to work closely with their academic advisor.
By combining traditional theatre skills, such as script writing, acting, and technical production, with cutting edge digital media and video skills, Pierce College Theatre students are uniquely qualified for jobs in the ever-changing world of artistic expression. These high-tech skills are in great demand as artists seek new ways of promoting and distributing their visions to a wide audience.
