Foreign language study combines learning to speak, read, and write a language with exposure to the culture or cultures that use that language. It also includes understanding of how a language is structured and of problem-solving abilities within that structure.
Transfer possibilities
Pierce College's World Languages department offers both European and Asian languages, as well as American Sign Language. These courses meet the entrance and graduation requirements for foreign languages of most four-year programs. Intermediate level courses are available depending on demand, primarily in Spanish.Students intending to transfer to a four-year college for further training in world languages are encouraged to work closely with their advisor to ensure they meet the requirements of the college they wish to attend after Pierce.
