Admissions - Getting Started - Application

Applying for admissions to Pierce College is as simple as visiting an admissions office or filling out an online admission form. New students or returning students (those who have not attended Pierce for four or more consecutive quarters) must pay a non-refundable $25 admissions fee. This fee can be paid online or in-person at the cashier's offices. Admissions forms will be processed once payment is received. Admissions forms received without payment will be held for one week pending receipt of the admissions fee.

Apply to Pierce College Fort Steilacoom in Lakewood or to Pierce College Puyallup, wherever you plan to take the majority of your courses. Please do not submit admissions forms for both colleges. Former students -please see additional information below.

No admissions form is required for the following:

For all other students, you may enroll if you meet any one of these criteria:

  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • Your high school class has graduated.
  • You are a high school graduate or you have earned a GED.
  • You've qualified for admission through Running Start or a similar program.

Former students and applicants with name changes

If you have only missed one quarter (excluding summer), you must reapply to Pierce College in order to continue working towards a degree or certificate, or to apply for financial aid. Please download and complete the Update of Admissions Status form. The admissions fee applies to returning students who have not attended for four or more consecutive quarters. If less than four quarters, there is no fee. Former students will also need to see an advisor after reapplying. Contact Puyallup advising or Fort Steilacoom advising to set up your appointment.

If you have attended (or applied to) Pierce College before under a different name, please apply under your previous name. This will ensure your admissions form is processed as quickly as possible. Once you have been notified of your acceptance to Pierce College, submit a Personal Data Change Form to have your records reflect your current name.

When to apply

Submit your admissions form (if needed, see above) at any time. Pierce College continuously processes admissions forms. Please allow a minimum of two business days for processing.. In general, admission packets begin going out to students according to the following schedule:

  • Fall quarter - Dec. 1 of the previous year
  • Winter quarter - Sept. 1
  • Spring quarter - Jan. 1
  • Summer quarter - March 1

Next steps

Once your admissions form is processed, you'll be emailed an admissions packet with all the information you'll need to get started. You'll receive a Student Identification Number, which you'll use for registering for classes and to access Pierce's online services, a student email address, which is the official means of communication for Pierce College, as well as information on assessments (some classes require testing), advising, and registration.
