If a student meets the criteria for self-advising and submits a complete application approved by their advisor, they will be considered self-advised. A Registration Access Code will be sent to the student each quarter and they will not be required to see their advisor.
For students who are well-informed and conscientious about their educational planning, this allows the student to choose when to seek professional advising help. We strongly recommend that self-advised students regularly check in with a faculty counselor advisor or faculty advisor to confirm they are on track to meet their educational goals. Fill out a Self Advising form to apply to self advise.
At Pierce Puyallup, students have the same self-advising option listed above for Pierce Fort Steilacoom students.
In addition, there is a second option. Students may be automatically mailed their quarterly Registration Access Code if they have earned at least 30 college-level credits and have a quarterly GPA of 2.5 or higher. Eligibility is quarter to quarter. This option is not available for all students, including Running Start students. For information, contact the Advising Center at (253) 840-8433.
