Before you can take the GED tests, you must register and pay. Cost is $150 (payable at the cashiers' windows at either Pierce Fort Steilacoom or Pierce Puyallup). This fee is nonrefundable and is used to cover administrative costs, as well as the five tests you'll need to take to earn a GED. You can also pay for each test individually for $30 per test.
Take your payment receipt to one of the Testing Centers (Cascade 302A at Fort Steilacoom and Gaspard A107 at Puyallup) with the following identification documents:
Students between the ages of 16 and 19 will also need to bring with them to the Testing Center a completed Request for Approval to Test for Certificate of Educational Competence form. These are available at the Testing Center and must be completed and signed by the school district in which you reside. You must submit the original form. No photocopies will be accepted.
For homeschool students, you must submit a Notarized Statement/Letter to prove your eligibility to take the test. This form must be returned to the Testing Center before you take a test.
Once you've provided the necessary identity confirmation (and approval forms for students ages) 16-19, or homeschool students), you will need to complete a Demographic Information Form and a Verification to Test Form. These are available at the Testing Center and both must be completed prior to taking a test. Allow yourself at least 30 minutes to complete these forms.
