Homeland Security Grants
Local and national grant resources
Again we have an opportunity to apply for the 2011 Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) through the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This grant program will provide $19 million in funding support for target hardening activities to nonprofit organizations (colleges qualify) that are at high risk of terrorist attack.
This funding is provided specifically to high-risk nonprofit organizations only in King, Snohomish and Pierce Counties, the program seeks to integrate nonprofit preparedness activities with broader state and local preparedness efforts. Each nonprofit may apply through their State Emergency Management Agency for up to a $75,000 grant award. The grant program also designed to promote coordination and collaboration in emergency preparedness activities among public and private community representatives, state and local government agencies, and Citizen Corps Councils. Applicants must be a member of their local Citizen Corps Council. 2009 a grant was awarded to Pacific Lutheran University to upgrade their card reader system. These grants focused on furthering their security/lowering risks and threats and providing training. Grants can be used for equipment purchase and training.

TSA Grant Programs
Securing our vital transportation systems is our mission, but screening travelers and providing law enforcement is not the only way we work. Small investments like new chain-link fences at your local trucking company's terminal or new locks at a warehouse storing dangerous chemicals bring big dividends. Not every business or community can afford to purchase major security upgrades without impact. That's where our grant program comes in. Grant opportunities exist to reap the benefits of improved security across the nation.
Grants.gov is your source to find and apply for federal government grants. Grants.gov was established as a governmental resource named the E-Grants Initiative, part of the President's 2002 Fiscal Year Management Agenda to improve government services to the public.
