Financial Aid - Award Notification

After all of your application materials have been received, it will be reviewed by the Financial Aid staff. If there are errors, it will have to be sent back to the U.S. Department of Education for reprocessing. Once all of the information is correct, Financial Aid staff will assign you a student budget based on your living situation and income. This student budget reflects tuition, fees, books, room and board, transportation, and childcare expenses for the number of quarters you will be attending Pierce College during the academic year.

This student budget, minus any family contributions, will determine your need for financial aid. If it is determined that you are eligible for need-based aid, you will receive written notification of the grants, work or loan programs for which you are eligible. This award notice will list the amounts of aid by program and academic term.

If you receive award notification and you wish to decline any of the financial aid offered, you must notify the Financial Aid office in writing.

Financial aid awards are based on full-time attendance (12 credits or more) unless you file an Award Status Revision form requesting consideration for three-quarter time attendance (9-11 credits) or less than halftime attendance (1-5 credits).

If you receive a financial aid award and you do not enroll in classes, and you fail to submit an Award Status Revision form, the balance of your financial aid award for the entire academic year will be canceled.
