Financial Aid - Troubleshooting Your Application

Pierce College processes more than 3,000 financial aid applications each year and it's fairly common for students to make careless mistakes that can affect their awards. In order to ensure you get the financial help you need, keep the following information in mind:

  • Always use your full name as it appears on your Social Security card for all financial aid and registration forms.
  • Read the FAFSA directions carefully, especially in the tax forms sections. The FAFSA lists the specific lines from the IRS tax form that are needed. Carefully and correctly copy those line amounts into the FAFSA.
  • Check and recheck. Ensure all of your information is correct and timely before submitting the FAFSA.

By following these simple tips, you may prevent a costly application error, one that could either affect your award amount or delay your award unnecessarily.
