Graduation - Home

Congratulations! If you are visiting this page, you're probably close to finishing your degree or certificate at Pierce College! But, before you celebrate, there are a few things you have to get squared away to be eligible for graduation.

To receive a degree or certificate from Pierce College, at least 25 of your last 45 credits must be earned at Pierce (SOCAD students are the exception). If you meet that requirement, understand that degrees and certificates are not awarded automatically. You must first complete the following:

  • Determine which quarter you plan to graduate.
  • Complete a Degree and Diploma Application by the specific deadlines posted in the academic calendar.
  • At Pierce Fort Steilacoom, submit the completed form to the Evaluations office. At Pierce Puyallup, submit the form to the Admissions Office.
  • Once you apply, wait for a confirmation letter from the Evaluations office.
  • Complete your program according to the guidelines and requirements.

Note: Students enrolled in programs through Pierce College's Military Program should contact officials at their site (Fort Lewis or McChord Air Force Base) for graduation application procedures and commencement information.

Commencement

Pierce College hosts a commencement ceremony each June for students who have completed their graduation requirements during that academic year, as well as those who are projected to complete their programs during the spring and summer quarters. Graduates and their families are encouraged to participate in this special event.

Note: Participation in the commencement ceremony does not imply that your degree or certificate has been awarded. Rather, you must meet all program requirements before a degree or certificate is awarded. All diplomas are mailed from the Evaluations office once grades have been verified. This process generally takes eight to 10 weeks after the end of the quarter.
