Multicultural Services - Multicultural Leadership Institute

Multicultural Leadership Institute (MLI) offers students a free 18-hour diversity-training workshop track called EMBRACE (Educating Myself For Better Racial Awareness and Cultural Enrichment). The benefits are:
  • Opportunities to develop personally by examining one's own stereotypes, communication barriers and knowledge about other cultures.
  • Networking opportunities to build alliances with Pierce College faculty, staff, administrators and student leaders.
  • Obtain an EMBRACE certificate of hours completed in diversity training.
  • Participants can plan their own workshop schedule based on workshops offered.
  • Community service and service-learning opportunities to put the diversity training into action

A print application form is also available for pick up in the Welcome Center on the Ft. Steilacoom campus. MLI is active in the Fall, Winter and Spring quarters only.

In 2008, Pierce College Multicultural Leadership Institute received the Voice of Inclusion Medallion for Exemplary Program.

This is a nationwide distinction awarded by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA).
