5 Steps For Veterans To Get Started At Pierce

Welcome! Thank you for choosing Pierce College to pursue your education!

Please follow these five steps to complete your admission/registration process. (Please note that registration processes differ at Pierce’s Military Program on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Visit the Military Program website for additional details.)

Step 1: Application

You can apply for admissions online via the Pierce College website. There is a $25 non-refundable fee that must be paid at the time you submit your application. Once your application is processed, you will receive an email with additional information, including your Student Identification Number (SID) and your official student email address.

Step 2: Money for College

Apply for VA educational benefits by completing the Veterans Online Application. Even if you are receiving VA educational benefits, you may be eligible for additional financial aid. Apply for financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is available online at the Financial Aid website.

Step 3: Assessment

Complete a COMPASS assessment to determine the best English, math, and reading classes for you. There is a $15 non-refundable fee for taking the COMPASS assessment. For more information, please visit the Pierce College Testing Center.

Step 4: New Student Orientation and Advising

At the New Student Orientation, you will learn what it's like to be a Pierce College student. You will hear about available resources and support services, meet other new students, and receive information on how to make an appointment with your advisor. New Student Orientation is mandatory for all degree/certificate-seeking students.

Step 5: Payment

After orientation, you will meet with your advisor and register for classes. Once you’ve registered, please contact the Veterans Education Benefits Office to have your benefits certified and submitted to the VA for payment. It is important that you pay your tuition and fees before the deadline. If you fail to do so, you will be dropped from your classes with no guarantee of getting the same schedule. Pierce College offers several payment options for paying for classes.
