Multicultural student services
Multicultural student services promotes the recruitment, retention, and successful completion of educational programs for students of color. The office fosters a college climate that embraces a multicultural curriculum, support services and student activities. Diversity adds value to the college community and the multicultural student services programs serve as a catalyst for creating a deeper awareness of the benefits of a pluralistic society.
The multicultural student services office is an advocate and dynamic change agent on behalf of students of color. The office influences the college environment by monitoring, developing, and advocating for policies and procedures that are relevant to the needs of students of color. Moreover, the office assists students of color in developing skills necessary to assure college success and by creating a place that is safe, nurturing and welcoming.
Multicultural student services facilitates and implements success strategies for students of color. Some of the services include:
- Facilitating admission to the college
- Providing adcademic/vocational support for students
- Assisting with financial aid and scholarship applications
- Assessment of academic, career and personal goals
- Advising and intentional educational planning
- Campus and community resource referral
- Cultural activities and ethnic clubs support
- Multicultural Leadership Institute
- Other services to help each student achieve personal and career success
