Career advising & instruction
- Displaced Homemaker Program provides instruction, support, and individualized assistance for
individuals transitioning from home to work after an extended period of time at home, financially supported by the income of
another family member or another source of funds. Recent changes in personal circumstances have caused a loss of the support
once counted on. The homemaker (male or female) now needs to approach the workforce to become the primary wage earner in the
family. The program entails participation in one of the college's two career transition programs: Workplace & Computer
Fundamentals or PierceWorks!. Eligibility guidelines will apply.
- Workplace and Computer Fundamentals is an 11–week educational and work readiness program offering
career assessment and exploration processes to help students plan and reach long–term goals. Workplace and Computer Fundamentals
is a transitional step in helping students to build confidence and strategies for successful start or return to education, training
or employment. Participation in this program also includes 30 hours of introductory computers.
- PIERCEWORKS! is a 7–week comprehensive career transition program for students who meet
eligibility guidelines. The program includes 200 hours of in–class job search skills and assessment work with 60 hours of
computer training. PIERCEWORKS! offers students the opportunity to assess interests, aptitudes, skills and match to a career
opportunity. Fifteen (15) credits are awarded for completion of the program.
