Credit for Work Experience

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is a process whereby any learning you may have acquired and have not had transcripted by a college is evaluated to determine if it is comparable with what is taught in college and can be recognized by awarding of college credit. The PLA process begins by making an appointment with the program coordinator. You will be advised to bring in any official course documentation that may be relevant to the process. This may include training certificates, licenses, military training records and/or discharge papers along with any other college transcripts from schools you may have attended.

The program coordinator will review your documentation and make recommendations about which classes may be granted for PLA credit. These classes will appear on your Pierce College transcript upon payment of appropriate transcription fees.
