Fire Command and Administration Degree Program Outcomes
Students who major in Fire Command and Administration will be prepared to:
- Utilize fire service leadership techniques to regulate personnel management, control discipline, train staff, perform strategic planning, organize fireground operations, and coordinate emergency or non- emergency activities.
- Apply effective interpersonal communication, critical thinking and decision-making skills commensurate with a defined level of responsibility.
- Utilize fire service management techniques in the development of policies, procedures and protocols, budgets, contract negotiations and information management in day-to-day operations.
- Apply principles of strategy and tactics to managing fireground operations.
- Demonstrate the ability to function independently and as part of an effective management team as appropriate in all situations.
- Identify and utilize fire and emergency services health, safety and risk management principles.
- Utilize the principles and practices involved with planning, preventing and managing terrorist and natural disasters.
- Interpret ethical and legal issues that impact fire service.
- Apply a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to assume leadership roles in fire service command and administrative duties.
