Advising Courses & Workshops

Each quarter, the Fort Steilacoom Advising Center offers the Student Success Series of workshops to help students with common needs. Topics including note taking, using library resources, and transferring to a four-year school. See the district events calendar for current dates and topics.

You may also find the following courses helpful in developing your study skills or life experience. If you are new to college, the advising staff particularly recommend EDUC 110.

EDUC 110 -- College Core (3 credits) 

You will increase your academic skills by learning techniques and strategies for college success. This course also provides general information regarding college resources and procedures. 

MNGT 186 -- Professional Development (5 credits)

You will learn, through experiential, hands-on exercises, new skills in goal setting, time management, stress management, personalities, self-concept, and workplace professionalism.  Focuses on academic and career choices.

PSYCH 106 -- Human Relations Seminars (2 credits)

Small classes designed to emphasize personal development skills necessary to adjust to life’s circumstances in college survival, goal setting, time management, positive life attitude, communication skills, self-confidence and anxiety.
