Transferring to a four-year school

Credits earned at Pierce College are transferable to all other Washington State public colleges and universities, according to the guidelines of the receiving institution and the requirements of the student's major. The advising centers have copies of transfer guidelines for all Washington colleges, but it is also important for students to consult with college admissions representatives and university advisors as early as possible.

Core college-level classes completed at Pierce College will usually transfer to private colleges in and out-of-state, but acceptance cannot be guaranteed due to varying institutional accreditation and transfer policies of those institutions.

Students interested in transferring Running Start credits to a four-year school should:

  • maintain close contact with their high school for university testing dates, application deadlines and scholarship information
  • consult with college admissions representatives and university advisors as early as possible
  • contact out-of-state colleges on an individual basis for their policy on accepting Running Start credits
  • meet with college advisors regarding transferring
  • attend Pierce's quarterly College Transfer Days (as listed in the district events calendar)
